“You know me.” - Nobunaga

“That’s exactly the problem.” - Detective Morikawa

The Nobunaga Universe is a series of screenplays set in an alternate-universe, post-World War Japan. In this universe, the diesel engine was invented nearly 100 years before it was in our own. The resulting advances in technology boosted society by several decades. While many benefited from these advancements, many also suffered.

Inspired by radio dramas from the 1940s and 50s, super hero comics, and perhaps just a bit of anime, The Nobunaga Universe is a passion project, celebrating just what made each of these mediums special.

At some points you may feel as if you’re tuning into a Golden Age comic, franticly turning the pages to see what’s next. At others, you may feel as if you’re on your phone, streaming the latest episode of a certain bizarre series. The end result is something entirely unique, and whether you’re a fan of history, culture, or video games, everyone should find something that draws them into this special story.

Screenplays are meant to be performed, so we recommend reading these stories aloud, getting into character, and acting out each part. (Don’t be afraid!) If you have friends available, try performing it with them! You would be surprised at how fun it can be.

But if you prefer a nice, quiet solo read—like you might with any other book—you can do that too. That’s the beauty of screenplays. You can enjoy them any way that you want!

Join us as we unravel each mystery in this exciting adventure!

(A quick note: Names in this series follow Japanese naming order. Family name comes first, followed by given name. Exceptions do apply for certain international names, such as American names.)
